The Apostolic Company #2

The Apostolic Company #2 In recent prophecies we have heard a number of different promises given to the church. We have already talked about the Apostolic Company, but the other promises have yet to be unpacked. God has promised grace for the apostolic message to go out to the nations, but also to go out on a regional scale. As an Apostolic company we have a grace to be tenderers and shepherds of our own region. It is important that we devote ourselves to our home town as well as going out. God is not just interested in the Apostolic…

Testing False Apostles

Beginning with the story of a recent encounter with a person claiming to be an apostle and yet displaying traits contrary to those of a genuine apostle, john Alley outlines the qualities that are critical to the work and values of a true apostle. John emphases that a true apostle is not ambitious for selfish purposes, but works diligently to build and maintain relationships in keeping with the apostolic message of the Bible. This message is a valuable source of information and instruction in the area of testing apostles to determine whether their calling is true or false.

Defining an Apostolic People

Defining an Apostolic People

What are the defining characteristics? Hebrews 3:1 describes Jesus as “the apostle and high priest of our confession”. So Jesus, as the original apostle, is the pattern and example for all others. Jesus emptied himself of everything – position, authority, power, knowledge and will. He was sent to represent the Father, not himself. So we see that a true apostle is one who represents another, not self. John will…

The Apostolic Covering

However, that is no longer adequate. Apostolic covering is the key. Christ appoints Apostles with grace and authority to give covering and shelter for every other member of the 5 fold ministry. This acts as a shelter under which a community can gather; it gives permission and protection to the pastors, prophets, teachers and evangelists to work out the…
