Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it."
- Proverbs 4:23
You will be offended , the Bible never promises that when we become Christians, everyone will suddenly become extra considerate of our feelings, or even that we will suddenly become more considerate of others. We may not have control over what others do, but we can exercise control over our reactions to things that cause offence.
We are called to deep relationship with each other, and the deeper the relationship, the more opportunities there are for offences to occur. If we are to be unified as one people, how must we behave towards those who have offended us and who we have offended. Should we repress our anger so that it becomes bitterness? No! Dropping an offence is different to repressing it. Offer forgiveness and grace instead of becoming bitter. We can ask for grace to let go of offences rather than holding them against the other person.
How easily are you offended?
