John Alley begins today’s message by quoting from a blog by J D King on the subject of the way that Christians are being duped into believing that the world is getting worse and worse. But is evil really growing? Is humanity actually descending further and further into chaos? John brings forth some very convincing statistics which would contradict this view. Deaths as a result of war and violence have decreased dramatically; poverty is in the decline while prosperity and economic opportunity continue to spread.; people are living linger and are healthier, while Christianity has quadrupled over the last 100 years. Much of the spread of Christianity has occurred in the “difficult” regions of the world – Africa, Latin America, China and the Middle East, for example. A tendency among Christians, says John, is to gravitate towards bad news. This is uninformed thinking – the world is getting better. Jesus is on the move, bringing life and blessing.
