Philip Alley begins his message on faith and expectation by recapping previous messages on the subject of prayer and the things that need to be in place in order to pray effectively. Philip shares from the Scriptures, illustrating that our prayers are answered in accordance with our faith. We should not be afraid, but believe that God will do the things He says that He will do. Faith is a gift, says Philip, and we need to continue to develop that gift. Philip then moves on to expectation – what we expect to happen. Do we believe the right things? In prayer, says Philip, we lay down the rules relating to the way we wish to live. But we need to back up those prayer “rules” by our actions. Philip also covers the subject of judgements and criticisms that we hold against one another, and the hindrance that these are to our prayers.
