Christmas

Giving to God

Gift giving is a prominent part of Christmas traditions, and we are all familiar with the Bible story of the Wise Men Giving Gifts to the baby Jesus.  But the real gift at Christmas is that of Christ given to us.  God gives of himself, and so God is both the giver and the gift. In light of God's great gift, what will your gift be in return?  He deserves nothing less than our all, and yet even that is not sufficient a gift for the King of Kings.

The Increase of His Government

The prophet Isaiah, in speaking of the coming Messiah, said “….Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end…” What, exactly, does that mean? John Alley brings a message of hope and encouragement regarding the things to come in light of the Gospel. John examines the words of the prophets Isaiah and Daniel as well as Chapter 21 of Revelation and draws parallels in the prophetic language and symbolism contained therein.
Most popular theories about the end of the world and the second coming of Christ are not based on exegesis, says John, where the Bible would interpret itself. When, however, a comprehensive study is made of the Bible passages relative to this subject, it can be seen that the word of God, the Gospel, will continue to grow and increase and be active in the world. John presents statistics that verify that Christianity is on the increase in the world and that

Of Ants and Men and God

David Alley begins his message by affirming that God came to earth and lived as a man in order to show us His great love for us. Just as in order to communicate to an ant we would need to become an ant, so it was with God, says David. In desiring to communicate with man God became a man and lived among us. Not only did He come, but in advance of His coming, God launched an extensive publicity campaign to let us know of it. First God sent the Old Testament prophets, and then at the birth of…

On Earth Peace #1

On Earth Peace #1
John Alley opens his message today with the scene described in Luke 2:1-20. The shepherds were terrified when the angel of the Lord appeared to them. Why were they afraid? They were afraid because suddenly And without warning the realm of the unseen opened before them and the glory of the Lord was all around. They were overwhelmed by a sense of the fear of the Lord. God appeared in the normal, earthy circumstance of everyday life. John then goes on to discuss the song that the angels sang, and to speak of other powerful songs that are recorded in…

On Earth Peace #2 – The Kingdom Prophecies

On Earth Peace #2 – The Kingdom Prophecies
Expanding on his Christmas message, John Alley reads from Luke Chapter 2, bringing out four points to consider carefully from the text. Backed up by many supporting Scriptures, John speaks of the importance of the name of Jesus, the infallibility and power of the word of God and the humility of walking in the grace of total surrender to the will and purposes of God in our lives before dwelling on the subject of Bible prophecies. Jesus will reign forever on the throe of David, who was king of Israel. But this Israel, says John, is the spiritual Israel –…

What Can I Give?

What Can I Give?
In the lead-up to Christmas Philip Alley’s message focuses on Christmas, and especially looking at the well known story of the wise men, or Magi, who visited the Christ child. Philip poses several interesting questions before answering them from Scripture. How is the Magi know the child who was born would be King of the Jews? Why did they travel to Jerusalem to find out where He was? Philip gives an overview of who the Magi were and their status in the society of the day, before adding a possible thought on the reasn why they knew of the Christ…

The Big Invisible Kingdom

The Big Invisible Kingdom
David Alley speaks of the marvelous sign of God’s great love and blessing to all men that the Christmas season is, with all of the music and public display of the nativity. And yet, those who do not believe do not see the truth which is so rich in meaning for all people. David reads for Isaiah, Luke, and Matthew as well as 1 Corinthians which tells us that we are living in the days of the fulfillment of the ages. The Kingdom of God will never end, and yet it is invisible to those who do not look for…

Jesus – The Name!!

Jesus – The Name!!
John Alley explores the meaning of the name “Jesus”, which in the Hebrew language means “Jehovah with us”. John goes on to ably illustrate from the Scriptures the origins of the name Jehovah, or Yahweh, drawing parallels between the attributes of Yahweh, or God, and Jesus. John makes mention of the fact that the Old Testament speaks of Yahweh but in every New Testament reference to the very same prophecies and scriptures it becomes “the Lord”. John shows from Bible references that Jesus Himself says that He is “I Am”. In fact, says John, the wonderful name of Jesus is…
