Philip shares from a retreat for schools that he recently attended, explaining why a Christian education is better than a secular one. Importantly, a Christian school addresses a child as a spiritual being who will live forever. This changes the entire perspective of the way in which issues of education and vocation are engaged. A great challenge for schools, and indeed for all of us, says Philip, is distraction. This comes in many forms including electronic ones, and causes the distracted one to lose in many and various way including loss of sleep, of margin, of memory, of vocabulary, empathy, imagination and connection. Indeed, we lose freedom.
