For the past 5 weeks we has discussed the Great Commandment and Love. We are now going to consider another passage which gives us a clear insight into Christ’s desire for us.

The Great Commandment

We concluded last weeks blog with Paul’s exhortation in 1 Thessalonians 4:9-10. It should be noted that he had commended them for their love, but urged them to love more. Was there an outcome from his exhortation? We find in his next letter to them 2 Thessalonians 1:3 the answer, “and the love everyone of you has for each other is increasing”.

The Great Commandment

In my last blog I discussed some things that the Apostle John wrote about love in his first epistle. We will now consider some of what the Apostle Paul had to say about the topic. Love, of course, is a major theme of the New Testament, which should not surprise us, as it was to the Apostles that Christ gave the command to love.

Last week I concluded with the following question. If we loved one another like Christ loved us, what effect would this have on our Christian witness, and the world around us?

To me it is obvious that if the Lord gives an instruction there is a very good reason for it, and it should not be considered a suggestion. When we ignore the instruction of the Lord we do so at our own peril (there is ample evidence of this in the Old Testament, and that was when God spoke by His Holy Prophets).

There are some passages of scripture that are very well known, but unfortunately not much heeded. Let us consider Christ’s command and examine what is contained in it, and look for what can be discovered.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was with His disciples, He was soon to be arrested and killed. He had important things to say to them in preparation for His departure and for their future ministry. This was not a request but a command, “you must love one another”.

Peace Apostolic Ministries held their 9th Australian Apostolic School at Kingsgate Haven, Kangaroo Island from 13-17 October. This was the first Australian school held outside the Rockhampton area for the purpose of facilitating more spiritual leaders from the southern states of Australia to attend. We had 10 attendees from Adelaide, 2 from Kangaroo Island and a brother who travelled from Pretoria, South Africa. Kingsgate Haven was a very suitable and comfortable venue, and we were served splendidly by managers Chris and Karen Hagger and volunteer staff from House Of Prayer.

Dear Friends, it is good to greet you again, we hope you and your families are well. We are going through a period of restructuring to make the ministry more effective. We are aware that one of our weaknesses has been communicating with our friends and partners what is happening in the ministry. This has been primarily a time issue, but also a planning and organizational matter. The Lord spoke to us at the beginning of the year and gave us specific words with regard to our focus for the year. One of these words was “The year of organization”.
