When Mary was told she would be with child, and this baby was to be none other than God, she was curious how this would happen. She was told she would become pregnant via the Holy Spirit's power. From that time she carried the Christ within her.

In Ephesians 4:13 it states "This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ." (NLV)

What is going to continue? The previous verses tell us, it is the giving of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. These are the gifts of grace given to the Body of Christ in Christ's ascension. These are not given before Jesus ascended, but in his ascension, that is while he is seated at the Father's right hand in heaven.

Who is the first apostle in the Bible? While it seems that we first find apostles in the gospel accounts when Jesus selected his twelve, actually none of these are first.

The writer of Hebrews tells us to "fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest." (Heb 3:1) Jesus is our first apostle. Jesus is selected as an apostle by His Father in Heaven, and sent to earth as God's representation, as God's ambassador, as God himself.

The outback of Australia is one of the most remote parts of the planet, and also one of the least populated. Over the years a number of ministries have endeavored to reach out to people living in the interior. The most well known of these is probably, Rev John Flynn, from the Presbyterian Inland Mission, who established the Royal Flying Doctors Service. In Jeremiah the Lord speaks in chapter 31:3-4 and says:

"The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: 'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt...'"

Over the last few decades as apostolic concepts have been explored around the world, there has frequently been a tendency towards external things. It's easy to observe what can be seen and praise the latest, greatest things happening. Big ministries who plant many churches can seem apostolic, and because they do much good, that seems to validate them as such.

Over the last 20 years, John Alley, and Peace Apostolic Ministries has travelled and ministered in about 40 nations, and on every continent. (excluding Antarctica) This has been a journey of love, and the Lord strongly impressed that we were to "take an apostolic message to the nations," and more importantly to "keep looking into the eyes of Jesus."

The majority of our ministry has been at our own expense, and the Lord has faithfully kept us. We acknowledge His goodness with this, and have come to depend on Him for all we do.
